New Spaces

It was only this morning that I realized it has been almost exactly one month since my last post.

I hadn't realized it had been that long. When you are truly on your own schedule, time can really get away from you, and every day is the same as the next.

About a week and a half after my last post, we left Minnesota and drove down to Oklahoma; Andy behind the wheel of the bus, and me driving the van.

We had connected with a woman, Jenni, who was looking for like-minded individuals with buses and know-how (tools were a plus!) to help her build out her shipping container home, and all the out-buildings included for the various plans she has. I am ridiculously excited to just think about growing a vegetable garden in zone 7A!

She offered us a place to stay, with hookups, in exchange for the help, and plenty of time and help to work on our own bus. The opportunity itself was perfect for us; the full hookups were an added bonus because, while we have gray water and fresh water tanks, and a composting toilet, we are not quite ready to be totally self sufficient yet. I hope to have an actual plumbed toilet before Thanksgiving. “HOPE" being the operative word.

Our parking space for the next few months is so quiet and peaceful. The exact opposite of our first parking space. We are on a gravel road. Not, unfortunately, the Minnesota kind of gravel road. Think more big ugly nondescript gray rocks with lots of red sandstone. There have been a couple pretty purple sandstone/quartz pieces, but I find I can walk down these roads without looking down pretty easily. However unpretty the road is, it’s a lightly traveled road so there's not much traffic, and every neighbor has cows or horses. Jenni has a couple of cats, and since I've been missing Turbo it's been nice to get some kitty snuggles. I love it when they drop to their sides on your feet! They completely expect you to rub them every time. Or maybe they just know me from a glance. Ha!

The sunsets are gorgeous almost every night, the sunrises and moonrises are too. The colors are so vibrant, they're almost otherworldly. The peaceful feeling is so strong, even now when the world is so raw.

I am currently editing a video, and needed to clear my head before I bombard myself with footage.

I have no idea what I am doing here. I started out making videos for this blog, then without warning Andy decided to tell the world that I would be making videos of all the things we do on our travels, and now I don't know what I am doing. Maybe for now, I just follow along with my recent mantra of “Do what feels good. The rest can fuck off.”

Whatever.
